The White House Historical Association.

The White House Historical Association extends its condolences to the Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The White House and Queen Elizabeth II have shared a long history of friendship and diplomacy, spanning 14 presidencies.

She first visited Washington, D.C. as Princess Elizabeth in 1951 with Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and stayed with President Harry S. Truman and his family at Blair House. In 1957, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip visited the White House for the first time, staying with President Dwight D. Eisenhower and First Lady Mamie

Eisenhower. They returned during America's bicentennial celebration in 1976 when President Gerald Ford and First Lady Betty Ford hosted a State Dinner in their honor. President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan welcomed Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip at their Rancho Del Cielo property in California on March 1, 1983. Two days later, the Reagans hosted a State Dinner for the royal couple away from the White House at the M.H. de Young Memorial Museum in San Francisco. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip returned for two more State Visits at the White House during the administrations of George H.W. Bush (1991) and George W. Bush (2007).

In today's gallery, explore historic moments shared between American presidents and Queen Elizabeth II at the White House and beyond.
