oldest weapon - the Clacton Spear, found in County Essex, England. It is much older than our species Homo Sapiens and even older than the oldest findings of the Neanderthal man -  420 thousand years!
He was found in 1911 near the town of Clacton-on-Sea, England. Clacton-on-Sea). Made of yew wood, the fragment was 38.7 cm long and 3.9 cm in diameter and warped slightly into a curve.
Throughout the last century, the assignment of the artifact has been a subject of discussions and various interpretations. It was suggested that it was used as a stick, digging stick or spear.
Only finding in 1995 several complete copies in Scheningen (Germany) of age ok. 300,000 years ended the controversy. Today, this ancient artifact is seen exactly as a spear blade.
Who made this spear? Probably a Heidelberg man, ancestor of Neanderthals and descendant of Erectus, who lived between 600,000 and 200,000 years ago.
